A study on problems with special classfor young children with disabilities
Choi Min-Suk

Abstract
In early childhood special education sector, integrated education should be extended both in quantity and quality, as part of public education. In South Korea, however, there isn¡¯t yet remarkable progress in integrated public education, as just kindergartens attached to elementary schools offer it through special classes. The purpose of this study was to discuss what problems there were with integrated education. A survey was conducted on 196 special education supervisors from provincial and municipal offices of education, 36 kindergarten directors in charge of special class, 36 preschool special education teachers, and 29 vice principals. And it¡¯s found that they thought there were little or no due preparations for integrated education, and it¡¯s required to take most urgent step to improve the given conditions of kindergarten. The supervisors viewed special class as the best way to conduct integrated education, whereas the kindergarten directors and early childhood special education teachers favored a special guidance room.
